Global youth consultation on ending child immigration detention
About
Are you someone who cares about human rights? Do you care about the humane treatment of migrants and forcibly displaced persons? Are you someone with lived experience of being in detention? Are you a young person?
Join us on 8 May 2023 at 14:30 CET for an online global youth consultation on ending child immigration detention. Hosted by the Migration Youth and Children's Platform (MYCP), UNICEF, International Detention Coalition & UN Network on Migration, and their Alternatives to Detention Workstream. With a focus on garnering youth perspectives on the issue, and hearing about their regional knowledge and/or experiences to contribute to the peer-learning exchange between States on May 24, 2023, and the subsequent regional reviews of the Global Compact on Migration (GCM) and next IMRF, as well as to the Global Refugee Forum in December 2023. We want to hear from you!
The youth consultation will also provide the opportunity to identify youth speakers for the inter-governmental peer learning exchange, at which these youth speakers will be able to represent and give voice to views emerging from the consultation - providing a forum for meaningful impact from the consultation. We want them to hear from you!
You must be of 30 years of age or under to participate in this consultation. All registrants who meet this criteria will be sent the Zoom link to participate - no application process is required to join.
