Durable Solutions Working Group Chair, Gopal Krishna Siwakoti

Gopal is a front-line human rights defender with academic, research, advocacy, and training experience in the field of human rights and humanitarian law, migration management, disaster-displacement, and protection of vulnerable moving populations, especially refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other irregular migrants. 

He is currently working as the President of International Institute for Human Rights, Environment and Development (INHURED International) which enjoys UN-ECOSOC Special Consultative Status and has been in the core leadership position since the inception period of the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (APRRN), as well as the Durable Solutions Working Group. 

Honored by several national and international awards, Gopal is entirely involved in advocating for the cause of refugees and migrants in the region as a front-runner campaigner and a civil society team member including for the adoption of the twin Global Compacts for Migration and Refugees. He has authored, edited, and produced several books, research reports, films, and documentaries on migration, refugees, disaster displacement, electoral freedom, transitional justice, human rights, peace, climate change, safer migration, and counter-trafficking.
