Annual Short Course on Advocacy & Refugee Rights Report

The 2016 Annual APRRN/Mahidol University Short Course on Advocacy and Refugee Rights took place from 28 November – 1 December 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. The overall aim of the course was to build a new generation of refugee rights activists and strengthen advocacy skills for practitioners across the region. The course this year aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity, expertise and knowledge in advocating for the rights of refugees in the Asia-Pacific.

This year, thirty participants—NGO workers, researchers, post-graduate students, refugees, interns and policy advocates—from twelve countries and a variety of career backgrounds joined the course. Thank you to Brian Barbour from the Japan Association for Refugees (JAR) and Mike Hayes from the Institute for Human Rights and Peace Studies (IHRP) at Mahidol University for facilitating lectures and group activities. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who joined us this year!
